The new Force Gurkha has been finally launched in India and just like its closest rival - the Mahindra Thar, even the Force Gurkha has evolved as a lifestyle off-roader. The 2021 Gurkha retains its boxy silhouette but looks a tad more upmarket than its predecessor. The body panels and edges look more even now and there are new modern elements which we generally see on current models nowadays. Even the cabin has been thoroughly upgraded with better materials and it gets most of the features you expect in a lifestyle off-roader. That said, at Rs. 13.59 lakh it is still Rs. 1.10 lakh more expensive than the Thar. Force is also offering a wide range of customisation options for the new Gurkha and it can been booked for a token amount of Rs. 25,000. Here's everything you need to know.

  1. The 2021 Force Gurkha is spawned by the modular architecture platform and continues being a purpose-built off-road SUV more than a lifestyle off-roader.

It does look more modern and upmarket now with elements like the new single-slat grille with Gurkha branding, LED Pro Edge headlights with integrated DRLs which is a segment-first, LED indicators, new new bumpers, fog lights, a new snorkel, a newly designed 'Shark Gill' on the fender, a bigger rear windshield, newly designed wing mirrors with Khukri engraving, new black plastic cladding, rear-door mounted spare wheel and LED taillights among others.

    Force Gurkha's 205 mm ground clearance is good enough to tackle most tough situations.

  3. Dimension wise, the new Force Gurkha measures 4116 mm in length, 1812 mm in width, 2075 mm in height, while the wheelbase stands at 2400 mm. It will be available in five colours - Red, Orange, Green, Grey and White.
  4. The cabin of the of the Force Gurkha is finished in midnight black with dark grey theme upholstery. It also comes with a new gear lever and 4X4 lever, moulded floor mat, panoramic side windows, captain seats, armrest for the rear passenger.

    The interior sees significant updates and there are quite a few new features.

  5. There is a new Kenwood sourced 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and Navigation with true mirroring via USB.
  6. Other creature comforts include tilt and telescopic adjustment for steering, power windows, central locking, speed-sensing door locks, single-piece rear door with wipers, variable intermittent speed front wipers, and more.

    The seats are comfortable and the cabin is quite airy, thanks to the big glass surfaces.

  7. In terms of safety, it gets features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensor, cornering lamp, one-touch lane change indicator, tyre pressure monitoring system and follow-me home & Lead me headlights among others.
  8. Under the hood, the new Force Gurkha gets a Mercedes-Benz sourced BS6-compliant 2.6-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that churns out 91 bhp at 3,200 rpm and 250 Nm of peak torque at 1400-2400 rpm.

  9. Transmission options include a five-speed Mercedes G-28 manual gearbox couples with the four-wheel-drive (4WD) as standard. The new Force Gurkha has a crawl-up angle of 35-degrees while the water-wading capacity is rated at 700 mm.
  10. For roadside assistance, Force Motors has also tied up with Auto Europa India that have 6,200 touch-points across the country. Force is offering 1.5 lakh km / 3 years free warranty with the Gurkha in-turn supported with four year free service.
