2019 Volkswagen Touareg Teased In New Video Ahead Of Beijing Debut

Volkswagen has partially revealed the new generation Touareg in a new video ahead of its official debut at the Beijing Motor Show On March 23. The video, published on the company's official YouTube channel, has the roadmap for the new Touareg to Beijing. The 2019 Volkswagen Touareg is said to travel more than 16,000 kilometers from VW's Bratislava plant in Slovakia while making its way through 11 countries before making its way in to China. The video is from the first three days of the Touareg's journey and talks about the vast history behind the Touareg SUV. The new-gen Touareg gets minor cosmetic changes, will it remains the same at heart.

The new generation Touareg is based on the company's MLB platform and shares its underpinnings with the Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne and Lamborghini Urus, meaning it gets features like air suspension, rear-wheel steering and comes loaded with electronic driver aids. Visual changes are subtle but the front grille is completely new and gets prominent chrome slats along with the stylish LED headlamps. The front bumper is sleek with large air intakes and black underbody cladding. In profile, the Touareg looks massive with the bold character lines which are now sort of a signature from VW. The ORVMs gets sleeker, alloy wheels have beefed up and the high shoulder line just adds to the aggressive stance. Under the hood, the new generation Touareg will be powered by both petrol and diesel engines. A 2-litre petrol and diesel engine will be on offer along with option for a more powerful iteration of 3-litre V6 engine in both trims. Transmission duty will be carried out by 8-speed DSG transmission with AWD function as optional.

In India as well, the Touareg had a short spell from 2012 till 2014 before it was discontinued due to low demand. Will it come this time around? Well yes, but don't expect it make it any time soon. But knowing VW, it might just bring in the new T-Roc instead.
