2018 Honda Africa Twin Teased Officially
Highlights
- The 2018 Africa Twin will get a bigger fuel tank
- The engine is expected to remain the same
- Honda might offer DCT on the 2018 Africa Twin
Honda Motorcycles has put up a teaser image on its Facebook page, confirming our previous story that the company will indeed unveil an updated Africa Twin for next year at the upcoming EICMA Motorcycle Show. Honda will take the wraps off the 2018 Africa Twin on 6 November, 2017. A look at the teaser picture shows a taller windscreen, a protective bar under those familiar twin angry-looking headlamps and a different, knobbly tyre up front as opposed to the Africa Twin's regular road-biased tyres. The teaser image has the words 'True Adventure' written, which could signify that the new Africa Twin might be called Africa Twin Adventure.

In terms of overall design, the new Africa Twin will be getting a bigger fuel tank with a view to increase the range of the bike. The other changes could be at the rear, with new side panels for the rear section. This means that the rear sub-frame might be updated or be completely new too.
As far as the engine is concerned, Honda might persist with the current engine which is a 998 cc parallel-twin motor, making 87 bhp and 92 Nm. Globally, the Africa Twin comes with a six-speed manual and a dual-clutch automatic transmission options and we believe that the 2018 Africa Twin will also get both variants. The Africa Twin was launched in India a few months ago and only in the DCT variant. We do hope that the new Africa Twin comes to India, but it will only be sometime next year.
