Triumph Motorcycles India is all set to launch the new-generation Tiger Explorer on 25th July, 2017. The 2017 Tiger Explorer is already on sale in international markets and has six variants under the XC and the XR range. We already told you that Triumph was planning to launch the new-gen Tiger Explorer towards the end of this month and now we have official confirmation from the company as well. The Tiger Explorer is a full-fledged adventure sport motorcycle and this being the new-generation; it gets quite a few updates as well.
The first and foremost is the addition of the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) which has strategically positioned sensors that measure the motion of the motorcycle, calculate the lean angles while cornering and use the data to supplement the function of the ABS (anti-lock brakes), cornering ABS, traction control and the other electronics. The other new additions are a hydraulic torque assist clutch which, the company says, reduces effort while riding off-road and for long distances. Upping the comfort factor further is Triumph's Semi Active Suspension (TSAS) which continuously adjusts the suspension setting while the bike is one the move.
The 2017 Tiger Explorer gets the same 1,215 cc 3-cylinder engine which makes 137 bhp and 123 Nm. These figures are slightly more than what the outgoing model produced. Also, the new-gen bike meets the stringent Euro IV emission norms and has three riding modes in Road, Rain and Off-Road. The throttle maps, traction control and ABS settings are different in each riding mode. The starting price of the current Triumph Tiger Explorer is Rs. 18.75 lakh. We believe that the prices of the new-gen Tiger Explorer will carry a small premium over the prices of the old models. The Triumph Tiger Explorer will go up against the likes of the Ducati Multistrada 1200 S and the BMW R 1200 GS.
