2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire Spotted Testing In India Again
Highlights
- The new Swift Dzire will come with cosmetic and styling updates
- The car will likely share its styling cues with the new-gen Swift hatch
- Mechanically the new Swift Dzire is expected to remain unchanged
Judging by the images, the car seems to be in the early stages of testing and is likely to be launched in the second half of 2017. As mentioned before, the new Swift Dzire will come with design and cosmetic treatments that are similar to the new-gen Swift hatchback, which is also undergoing testing and is expected to be showcased at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The image of the car was also recently leaked online.
The spy shots of the test mule hint at a new face for the Dzire featuring new wraparound headlamps with daytime running lights, a redesigned front grille, new bumper with round fog lamps, and new bonnet as well. From the sides, the design of the car seems to remain unchanged apart from some slightly updated proportions and new features like alloy wheels and new ORVMs. On the other hand, the rear profile of the new Swift Dzire has also been redesigned and it now comes with new LED tail lamps and restyled rear bumper among some minor updates.
While the changes made to the interior of the car are still unknown, we expect to see a slightly updated cabin with dual tone colour scheme, better quality interiors and features like - automatic climate control, keyless entry with engine Stop/Start button, possibly a touchscreen SmartPlay entertainment system with reverse camera and navigation and steering mounted controls. The car might also few safety features as standard offerings like - dual airbags and ABS with EBD, which are currently being offered only as an option on base variants.
Mechanically, the new Swift Dzire is expected to get the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines under the hood. Like the outgoing model, the car will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard with an optional 4-speed auto box for the petrol trim and a 5-speed AMT unit for the oil burner. Considering Maruti is planning to introduce SHVS technology across its lineup soon, we might also see the SHVS mild hybrid technology on the diesel variants of the Dzire.
