Italian motorcycle maker Ducati has confirmed that it will be showcasing an all-new supersport bike at the upcoming Intermot Motorcycle Show in Cologne, Germany that is all set to commence on October 4. If you haven't guessed it yet, this is the same 939 SuperSport that showcased to a select few at the World Ducati Week earlier this year and is now finally ready to make its debut to a wider audience.
The 2017 Ducati 939 SuperSport is an extremely important product for the Italian bike maker as it brings back the core elements of some of the manufacturer's most popular models of the past. The company has described its upcoming offering of a sporty street bike that is not only good for the high octane weekends but can also be used for short distance riding.
Much like the mash up of a street-fighter, tourer and a track-bred offering, the upcoming 2017 939 SuperSport will be borrowing a whole lot of components from Ducati's existing line-up and will fill an extremely narrow void in the company's model range. The model is expected to borrow its heart from the Hyperstrada 939, chassis from the Monster 821 and fairing from the Panigale 959. The SuperSport, however, will see some changes of its own to adapt more effectively.
While it should not be perceived as one-that-does-all-bike, the upcoming Ducati 939 SuperSport will be targeted at the loyal few who appreciate such kind of performance. That said, pricing will also be in check on the new offering as the Italian bike maker will want to keep the price tag as attainable for the 939 SuperSport. In addition, expect to see a plethora of electronics on the model, borrowed from Panigale and Monster.
The Intermot Show will also Ducati introduce updated versions of the Monster 821 and Diavel that will now be Euro4 compliant, while the manufacturer will also update the colour schemes across its complete model range. As far as major upgrades are concerned, the Ducati has updated the 1299 Panigale and Panigale S for the 2017 model year with the latest of EVO version of Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) that offer improved algorithms for faster and more precise response, and will be specifically available on the 1299 Panigale S Anniversario edition.
More details will emerge on October 4 at the preview event, and there is a possibility that Ducati could share its plans about the higher capacity Scrambler, Momster 939 and other models that are also in the pipeline. Stay tuned for complete updates.
