2015 Volkswagen Jetta showcased at 2014 New York Auto Show
Highlights
German auto giant Volkswagen showcased the 2015 Jetta today at the New York International Auto Show, which the company had unveiled two days ahead of the show. Changes are so minor that calling it a 'redesigned Jetta' would be a sin. The car remains largely similar to the outgoing model, in fact many of the so-called updates are optional.
Volkswagen claims to have tweaked the car's 2.0-litre TDI engine in order to make it more fuel efficient. The fuel economy is claimed to have improved to 19.13kmpl on highways, which was 17.8kmpl earlier. So, this is it in the technical department.
Coming to the design changes, the car receives subtle changes both on the exterior and interior, but like I mentioned many of the changes are optional. On the outside, the 2015 Jetta gets a revised bumper and radiator grille, while the headlights are offered with optional bi-Xenon lamps and adaptive front lighting system.
Moreover, each daytime running light is formed by 15 LEDs arrange in an L-shaped string alongside and beneath the xenon modules. What is also new is a chrome element between the LED daytime running lights and the xenon. The fog lights too have been mounted in the outer areas of the bumper.
At the rear, the 2015 Jetta gets LED tail lights (Offered only with GLI and Hybrid models) that featuring a bright stripe, as well as a redesigned VW logo. The trunk-lid and bumper too have been updated for 2015. But these changes too are very subtle.
The interior changes too are subtle. The mid and high-level trims get the dash gauges framed in chrome-edged tubes. Other changes like new multifunction steering wheel, redesigned air vent controls, piano black accents on the centre console and around the gear-shift lever, ambient light and new fabric colours and design for the seats are all optional based on trim levels.
