1.0-litre Ford EcoBoost Powers the Hot Wheels Rip Rod

As a kid as I browsed through the shops looking to add cars to my collection, the aisle I spent the most the most time was looking at the scale models from Hot Wheels. They were the whackiest of concepts and it made you wonder what it would be like to drive them.

As a kid as I browsed through the shops looking to add cars to my collection, the aisle I spent the most the most time was looking at the scale models from Hot Wheels. They were the whackiest of concepts and it made you wonder what it would be like to drive them.

It was Ford Racing infact who brought the Rip Rod to life and now they have unveiled the new and improved Hot Wheels Rip Rod concept. It was a static model brought to SEMA last year but this year the people at Ford thought, it would be better if they made a working concept, by adding an engine.

The car has now been equipped with a working powertrain that features a 1.0-litre EcoBoost three-cylinder engine. There is no word on specifications yet but this is the same engine that is capable of producing 202bhp in the Formula Ford.

Built with the assistance of Mattel and Bandito Brothers, the Hot Wheels Rip Rod looks too good to be true.
