Think speed records set by cars, and the first name that often comes to mind is the Bugatti Veyron, or the Veyron Super Sport to be precise. However, you must know that the Veyron isn't the recor holder for being the fastest to achieve a speed of 100Km/h from standstill; it is actually the Ariel Atom V8 that goes from 0-100Km/h in 2.3 seconds.

Since we are talking speed records, let us take this chance to introduce you to a new record that will stun you to say the least. Jack Beckman, a professional drag racer, achieved a speed of 323.43 mph (520.51Km/h) in just 3.921 seconds during the NHRA Funny Car.

About the race - the Funny Car is a class of drag racing that uses special cars. These cars sport tilt-up bodies, a custom chassis, and front-mounted engines. Interestingly, the bodies of the Funny Cars emulate cars available during the period it was built. According to various reports, the horsepower figures of such cars can vary from 7,000bhp - 9,000bhp.

Fast Jack aka Jack Beckman, a 19-time NHRA Funny Car winner, won the NHRA Sonoma Nationals in the Funny Car class on August 2, 2015 in a Dodge Charger, and also set a national record during the process.
