Porsche Reportedly Recalls 40,000 Taycan EVs
Highlights
The Porsche Taycan has been one of the biggest drivers of growth for the German sports car brand. Its success is also cited as one of the reasons that its CEO Oliver Blume will succeed Herbert Diess as the CEO of the Volkswagen group. But now comes a disturbing report which cites that more than 40,000 Taycan models which have been sold between 2019 and 2021 could be recalled. Overall, the number is 40,421 according to the German website [kfz-betrieb.vogel.de]. This is more than half of all of the Taycans Porsche has sold with the number being around the 80,000 mark.
The issue is related to the wiring harness of the driver’s and passenger’s seats. It has been cited that the wiring harness could be damaged during the longitudinal adjustment of the seat which sounds similar to another recall that the Taycan has already had in China. That time, 6,172 cars were recalled in 2020 and 2021.
Only a few weeks ago, it was said that 43,000 units of the Taycan experienced a sudden loss of power. This issue was thankfully resolved with a software update at the workshop.
The change of the wiring harness isn’t particularly important or related to the core EV components of the car.
