What's New?

Hero Motocorp launched the Hero Xpulse 200T, which now complies with Bharat Stage VI (BS6) emission standards. The upgraded bike costs Rs. 1, 12,800 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and only receives the upgrades required to comply with the latest emission regulations. The BS6 Xpulse 200T is part of the Hero Xpulse 200 line of bikes, which includes the popular entry-level adventure bike, the Xpulse 200, and the Hero Xtreme 200S of which are constructed on the same platform. With alloy wheels and an upright riding stance, the Xpulse 200T is a road-oriented touring bike.

At 8,500 rpm, the revised 199.6 cc oil-cooled single-cylinder fuel-injected engine produces 17.8 horsepower and 16.15 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. Both power and torque have been sacrificed for the sake of lower emissions, thanks to engine tuning to satisfy BS6 standards and a new exhaust design. The same engine produced 18.1 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 17.1 Nm at 6,500 rpm in the BS4 variant. Other aspects of the BS6 Xpulse 200T, including as design, functionality, and cycle components, remain unchanged. The 2021 Xpulse 200T will be available in three colours: Sports Red, Panther Black, and Matte Shield Gold.

A LED headlamp, LCD digital instrument panel with Bluetooth connectivity, call alerts, and turn-by-turn navigation are included in the Xpulse 200T. A 37 mm telescopic front fork and a seven-step adjustable rear mono-shock handle suspension responsibilities. The Xpulse 200T is equipped with 17-inch wheels, a ground clearance of 177 mm, and a kerb weight of 154 kg.

Verdict

A tourer version to the Xpulse range, the Xpulse 200T offers equally satisfying ride in the city as it does on the highways, coupled with excellent handling dynamics going over in corners helps its case. However, the design is not its strongest virtue, as is a vibrating engine at higher speeds that creeps into the handlebar. The absence of a fuel injected engine also adds to a low refinement on the engine.

How is the design of Hero Xpulse 200T?

The Hero Xpulse 200T is based on the Xpulse 200 but is more suited to touring. The Xpulse 200T has 17-inch black alloy wheels, a fully digital instrument panel with Bluetooth navigation, LED headlights, taillights, and disc brakes on both ends, all in a retro-inspired appearance. It does, however, only come with single-channel ABS. The Xpulse 200T is powered by a 199.6cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine that produces 17.8hp and 16.15Nm of torque.

The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Hero currently offers the Xpulse 200T in only one variant that sells for Rs 1.16 lakh (ex-showroom). One can have the bike in three colour options - Sport Red, Panther Black, and Matte Shield Gold.

How does the Hero Xpulse 200T ride?

On the road, the 200T rides just like a regular street bike. The suspension has a fair amount of pliancy, which keeps things comfy, but it doesn't chew into craters as the Xpulse does. The grippy MRF rubber helps with handling, but the bike isn't as snappy or dynamic as the Xtreme due to a more relaxed steering angle and a longer wheelbase.

How comfortable is Hero Xpulse 200T?

Although the suspension travel on the 200T is shorter, it hasn't harmed the ride quality. Sure, the Xpulse flattens virtually everything better. The 200T, on the other hand, stays level and pleasant until the pothole is extremely deep, the bump has a cliff-like edge, or you utterly misjudge a towering speed breaker. However, if any of the situations as mentioned above play out, the T's front end will crash. Its rear will kick as well.

The Xpulse 200T is designed as a touring motorbike. Thus the riding position is upright and comfortable. It is easily maneuverable even in city traffic and is completely manageable even for short riders. Compared to the Xpulse 200, this one has better handling, and the 200T seems nimbler and more agile in corners.

How's the tech?

Following are the tech features of Xpulse 200T:

  • Speedometer – Digital
  • Tachometer – Digital
  • Gear Indicator
  • Fuel Warning Indicator
  • Fuel Gauge
  • Low Oil Indicator
  • Low Battery Indicator
  • Pillion Seat
  • Pillion Grabrail
  • Engine Kill Switch
  • Clock
  • Tripmeter Type – Digital
  • Tripmeter Count
  • Pass Light
  • ABS

How's the mileage of Hero Xpulse 200T?

The fuel tank on the Hero Xpulse 200T has a 13-litre capacity, and the bike should return a fuel efficiency of roughly 40kmpl under normal riding conditions. The bike should offer you a range of close to 520km once you go for a full top-up. This is really good if you wish to go touring.

How's the performance of Hero Xpulse 200T?

It has a typical performance, with torque and tractable performance at lower speeds but a propensity to run out of breath over 110kph. While the XPulse's power statistics are the same, the bike's optional fuel injection adds a little smoothness to the engine, making it less irritated when forced to maintain high speeds for an extended period. Nonetheless, the performance found on both XPulses is suitable for rapid city work or slow difficult trails, but not for easy travel.

Is Hero Xpulse 200T good value for money?

As it is, the Xpulse T is a street bike, and at Rs 1.18 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), it's a reasonably priced one at that. It's also a better bargain than the Xtreme 200R because it comes with a complete LED headlight and a Bluetooth-capable LCD instrument panel with turn-by-turn navigation. If you decide to buy this machine, keep in mind that the only Xpulse-related experience you'll receive is from the design and the name.
