Geely Reveals Radar Auto RD6 Electric Pickup

Chinese automotive major Geely which is also the parent of Volvo and Polestar has launched a new electric pickup brand called Radar Auto. The first vehicle under the banner will be called the RD6 which will also come to the US. The brand will be focusing on electric SUVs, electric pickups and ATVs. All of its vehicles will be based on the pure electric sustainable experience architecture.
Designed by Peter Horbury, Geely’s automotive executive vice president of design has been pitched as an lifestyle electric pickup truck. It has been said the RD6 will be offered in single and dual motor setups. While officially the performance figures have not been revealed but reports out of China state that it could deliver between 200 and 400 bhp with a range of up to 600 km as per the Chinese CLTC standard.
"More people are pursuing a healthy lifestyle with more outdoor activities while the governments are also relaxing restrictions for pickups in cities. Those changes are supporting the grow›th of pickup trucks,” said Ling Shiquan, the CEO of Radar Auto.
There will also be a sub-brand called Radar Weekends that will focus on outdoor lifestyles and will work with different partners to create fun and diverse outdoors experiences.
Production for the car will begin in China in the fourth quarter of the year while pricing and delivery dates will be announced near market debut. There are plans for expansion in South East Asia and the truck will also come to the US considering it is the biggest pickup truck market in the world where the ford F-150 is the best selling vehicle in the market.
