Exclusive: Hop Electric Mobility Expansion Plans Revealed

Hop Electric Mobility, an EV startup, based out of Jaipur, India has revealed its expansion plans to carandbike in an exclusive interaction. Currently, the company has two electric scooters on sale, Lyf and Leo, and will launch a high speed electric motorcycle, Oxo, in October 2021. Currently, the company has sales touch-points in seven states in Northern India, in less than five months of sales operations. The company plans to cover 30 per cent of India by the end of the current financial year. The idea is to expand its footprint across India in the next 2-3 years.

Currently, the company has a manufacturing facility in Jaipur, Rajasthan, with an annual production capacity of 50,000 units. This can be further expanded to manufacture 1 lakh units per annum. Hop Electric also plans to set up a second manufacturing facility in Southern India, with a capacity of 5 lakh units per annum buy 2022. While the company hasn't shared monthly sales numbers, it did reveal that the average number of bookings per month amounts to 1,500 units a month.

Currently, Hop Electric Mobility has two electric scooters on sale, the Hop Leo, which is priced at Rs. 72,500, while the Hop Lyf is priced at Rs. 65,500. Both models offer features like range of up to 125 km, 72V architecture, high performance motor to climb slopes with loading capacity of 180 kg, boot space of 19.5 litres, connected technology like Internet, GPS, Mobile App and so on.

The company confirmed that it will launch a new electric motorcycle, Hop Oxo, in India by October 2021. Pre-bookings for the motorcycle will begin at the time of the launch and deliveries of the motorcycle are expected to begin in early 2022. The brand plans to launch at least ten new products in the next three years.
In a bid to help electric mobility adoption in India, the company launched a first of its kind integrated network of battery charging cum swapping stations, called the "HOPE Energy Network." The network will be for HOP electric two-wheeler customers, where consumers can charge a HOP electric scooter at home or swap to a fully-charged battery when outside in less than 30 seconds. HOP Electric Mobility has already started its pilot network with 5 swapping stations and 50 batteries in Jaipur earlier this year. The company is now looking to expand the charging station network across India, starting with Tier I cities like Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Gurugram and Noida.
