  • Dodge will showcase a electric muscle car later this year
  • Dodge will also create a plug in hybrid car
  • Its CEO believes that it can match performance of the HellCat motor

Dodge has announced its electrification plans as a part of the broader Stellantis EV ramp up and in the coming months, the iconic muscle car brand will share its vision for an EV first future in Q4 2021. It has a hybrid model in the works for 2022 and a battery-electric powered muscle car for 2024. Automotive News is reporting that next year it will debut a concept for an electric muscle car that will launch in 2024.

Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis said during a media preview for the Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge event that its move into the EV space could broaden its customer base if done in the correct manner.

"We hope that we draw a different type of consumer, and keep the consumer that we have today. That's very important to us, and that's why we want to get our concept car out next year and explain to people exactly what we're going to do. When things go into an electrified environment, we want to explain to people: Dodge muscle car first. And, by the way, it happens to have electrification to make it better,” he said.

Logically, Dodge could make an electric version of the Viper

Kuniskis said that the muscle car market usually sees prices of $40,000 and $50,000 and said that its EVs will live on for a very long time. "We know who our customer is, we know what our customers are looking for and we're targeting exactly what we need to do,” he added hinting at the potential price points the company was looking to hit.

He also talked about the horsepower, comparing it to the audacious Dodge Hellcat motor. "You want a Hellcat with 1,200 hp? I can give it to you. It won't be any faster than the one you got, because all you're going to do is spin the tires. I don't know what the horsepower is going to be, but trust me, we won't disappoint you,” he concluded.
