Powering the Himalayan 450 is a 452 cc single-cylinder engine, dubbed the Sherpa 450. It puts out 39.5 bhp and 40 Nm torque. The same engine also powers the newly launched Guerilla 450.
Introduced in the early 1990s, the DR 650 is powered by a 644 cc single, putting out 34 bhp and 45.3 Nm of torque.
While it was never offered in India, the KLR 650 went on sale worldwide in 1987 as an adventure motorcycle, featuring a meaty 651 cc engine delivering 40 bhp and 53 Nm torque.
The newest machine in the lot — BSA Gold Star 650 — gets a big-bore 652 cc single, which puts out 44.4 bhp and 55 Nm peak torque, along with a thump!
The Hypermotard 698 Mono gets the most powerful single-cylinder engine in the world, putting out 76 bhp and 63 Nm torque from a 659 cc engine which can rev up to 10,250 rpm!
