Here’s what you need to know about Ferrari’s latest mid-engine convertible:
Ferrari 296 GTS Launched in India!
The Ferrari 296 GTS is the open-top derivate of the 296 GTB that arrived in India last year. It shares much of its design with the GTB with the most notable changes coming to the rear deck.
Second Derivative of the 296 Series
The 296 GTS is a hard-top convertible with the roof stowed away underneath the buttresses behind the seats. It can be opened or closed in as little as 14 seconds and at speeds up to 45 kmph.
The Folding Roof
The deletion of the fixed roof for a folding hard-top and resulting structural strengthening means the GTS weighs about 70 kg more than the 296 GTB coupe.
Heavier Than the 296 GTB
Despite the additional weight Ferrari says the GTS will hit 100 kmph in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 330 kmph – identical to the GTB.
Performance Is Unchanged
This performance is enabled by the 296’s plug-in hybrid powertrain. It pairs a new turbocharged V6 petrol engine – first in a Ferrari road car in decades – with an electric motor to develop 819 bhp and 740 Nm.
The Powerplant
The 296 GTS is priced at a whopping ₹ 6.24 crore (ex-showroom). The coupe in comparison was launched last year at ₹ 5.40 crore (ex-showroom).
