Co-Develop Hydrogen Cars

Auto giants BMW and Toyota will develop the next generation of hydrogen cars, extendingtheir partnership further. Here’s what it means for both players.

BMW & Toyota Hydrogen Technology

BMW and Toyota are joining hands to co-develop new fuel cell technology to power future cars from both automakers. This will be their second collaboration after co-developing the Z4-Supra Mk5 project.

First BMW Hydrogen Car In 2028

BMW has confirmed that its first production-ready FCEV will roll out in 2028. BMW has so fartested the iX6 Hydrogen pilot fleet and the upcoming BMW FCEV is expected to be the new-gen version of it.

Toyota’s Hydrogen Prowess

Toyota has a longer history of developing fuel-cell vehicles. The Toyota Mirai has been onsale for about a decade now and puts the automaker leagues ahead in terms of hydrogen R&D.

BMW-Toyota FCEV

The collaboration between BMW and Toyota will take forward the individual third-generation fuel cells and use them for both commercial and passenger vehicle applications. 

BMW Neue Klasse Vehicles

The Neue Klasse lineup from BMW will enter production soon and is built on a platform that will support the FCEV architecture.
