BMW 7 Series Gains Level 3 Automated Driving Functions

The tech will be available as an option on the 7 Series in select markets from 2024

The Level 3 tech will allow the driver to take his hands off the steering and eyes off the road at speeds of up to 60 kmph under certain conditions.

Offers Additional Hands-Free Driving Functionality

The system is called the BMW Personal Pilot L3 and will be offered as an add-on option on select variants of the 7 Series.

Will Be Offered As An Option

The tech relies on high-definition live maps, connected services and an array of camera, radar and lidar sensors to accurately track and position the vehicle on the road.

How Does It Work

BMW has said that the system for now will not be offered with the i7 eDrive50 and the range-topping i7 M70 xDrive.
