Ola Electric plans to lay of as many as 10% of its engineers, amounting to about 200 employees.
The company is doing this as a part of its 'restructuring' exercise.
Ola Electric currently employs about 2000 engineers.
The restructuring process is part of the company's efforts to centralise operations.
"Ola Electric is undertaking a restructuring exercise to minimise redundancy and build a strong lateral structure that strengthens relevant roles and functions." - Ola Electric
The restructuring exercise will also see Ola hire about 5,000 new engineers over the next 18 months.
The restructuring comes at a time when Ola is aiming to be a holistic electric mobility solutions provider.
The company already retails the Ola S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters and has already teased its first electric car.
