Three-time Asia Pacific Rally Champion (APRC) Gaurav Gill has been nominated for the Arjun award by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI). This is the third time that the FMSCI has nominated Gill for the coveted award, which remains the highest civilian honour for sports in the country.

The 2018 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix closed this weekend and if speculations are to be believed just might be the last time we see would be seeing wheel-to-wheel action on the streets of Baku. As per a tweet from Dutch website Ziggo Sport F1, the sport's new owners Liberty Media are considering the city of Miami for the 2019 F1 calendar, effectively replacing the Azerbaijan GP.

Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel claimed his third consecutive F1 pole in the qualifying round of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The German managed to post an impressive time during Q3 and beat Mercedes-AMG's Lewis Hamilton to the pole position by a gap of 0.179s. Starting third tomorrow will be Hamilton's teammate Valtteri Bottas, followed by Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen of Red Bull coming in fourth and fifth respectively.

Former Formula 1 driver Jenson Button has confirmed that he will be participating in the 2018/19 World Endurance Championship (WEC) Super Season and includes two 240 Hours of Le Mans races. The former F1 world champion will be driving for SMP Racing in the series, and will be directly competing with F1 driver Fernando Alonso, who was also confirmed to join the series earlier this year with Toyota.

Sitting on top of the points table for the 2018 MotoGP season, Andrea Dovizioso has reportedly rejected Ducati's initial offer for a contract extension, as per a report by Motorsport.com. Dovizioso's deal with Ducati ends by the end of this year and would be a hot property given his strong performance during the last season.

The week-long 2018 Merzouga Rally ended last week with the riders facing a motocross style final stage traversing through dunes for the whole day. Both Indian teams brought all the bikes home with Sherco TVS fielding four riders and Hero MotoSports Team Rally having two riders for the rally. The Indian contingent posted a strong finish in the rally, taking spots in under top 20, while TVS even managed to finish under top 10.

Repsol Honda Marc Marquez rider proved once again he was the king of Texas winning his sixth consecutive Austin GP at the Circuit of the Americas. The Spaniard beat Yamaha's Maverick Vinales and Suzuki's Andrea Iannone to take the win, having started in fourth place following a penalty for blocking Vinales in qualifying.

The 2018 Merzouga Rally saw its first two-day marathon run in Stage 3 and both the Indian teams managed to post good rankings at the end of the first day. Team Sherco TVS led the Indian contingent with Joan Pedrero Garcia finished at P8 at the end of Stage 3, finished eighth overall, while teammates Lorenzo Santolino finished at P11, ranking 9th overall. Hero's CS Santosh had a good run and completed the day at P27, ranking 20th overall.
