Cars Used By India's Prime Ministers And Presidents

The citizens of any nation carefully observe their leaders. From the activities they indulge in, the clothes they wear, the cars in which they travel, and the food they eat are closely looked into and followed. The Indian Prime Ministers and the Presidents Of India are no exception. Whether it is due to rampant curiosity or because they aspire to do the same, people in India do subject their leaders and what they see, do and own, to considerable scrutiny. And cars that these leaders travel in top this list, especially since many of them have such wow factors.

Most of these cars are modified with custom fittings for security, dependency, and speed. Indian Prime Minister and President of India do not have a  number -plate in their respective cars. The first official car for the President of India was Cadillac County which was later superseded by the Hindustan Ambassador.

It was a sturdy car that was found in all government offices all over the country. It was very well-known as a government car for decades for its strong built and design.

Rolls Royce

Jawaharlal Nehru, the Indian Prime Minister then, was a car fanatic and travelled in various cars. He was gifted Rolls Royce Silver Wraith by Lord  Mountbatten which Nehru used for several years.

Mercedes Benz S-class armoured

Shankar Dayal Sharma was the first President Of India to enjoy the benefits of this armoured limousine. It was famous for its credibility and class. Its benefits and features were also enjoyed by another two Presidents Of India.

Mercedes Benz_S_Class Pullman armoured

Pratibha Patil, Pranab Mukherjee and Ramnath Kovind have used this limousine. The features and specifications of Mercedes Benz were not shared due to security reasons but it has been a blessing for the President of India. It could easily escape machine gun fire, grenade explosives, etc. It is presently used by the President Of India, Ramnath Kovind.

BMW 7-Series Hi-Security

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a much revered and respected Indian Prime Minister. He was liked by all for his simplicity, straightforwardness and diligence. He enjoyed travelling with the humble Hindustan Ambassador until his car was changed to BMW7-Series Hi-Security for security reasons. He was the first Indian Prime Minister to travel in the BMW7-Series Hi-Security. The current Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi also uses BMW7-Series Hi Security.
