Bajaj Auto Posts Highest-Ever Quarterly Turnover

- Bajaj sold 2,81,000 CT100 and Platina bikes in the second quarter
- Over 1,12,000 Pulsar bikes were sold in September 2017
- Over 99,000 Bajaj CT100 Electric Start sold in two months
Bajaj Auto has reported the company's highest ever quarterly turnover in the second quarter of the current fiscal year. For the second quarter of the Financial Year 2017-18, Bajaj Auto has recorded a turnover of Rs. 6,863 crore, the highest-ever turnover for a single quarter. Operating EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) stood at Rs. 1,383 crore, while operating profit stood at Rs. 1,306 crore. Profit before tax of Rs. 1,517 crore is the second highest in the history of the company, while profit after tax of Rs. 1,112 crore is also the second highest in the Bajaj Auto's history.
In the second quarter of the financial year, from July to September 2017, Bajaj sold 5,83,997 motorcycles in the domestic market, a growth of 37 per cent over the first quarter. In the April to June period, Bajaj had sold 4,26,562 motorcycles. Bajaj exported 3,34,724 motorcycles in the second quarter, but exports marginally fell from 3,49,152 units from the first quarter.

There were multiple records for Bajaj Auto in the second quarter of the current fiscal. September saw the highest ever monthly sale of 4,28,752 units. September also saw the highest-ever sale of commercial vehicles and the highest ever monthly sale of Pulsar motorcycles; a whopping 1,12,075 Pulsars were sold in September. In the second quarter, Pulsar bikes, along with Avenger and Dominar models, sold nearly 2,37,000 units. The newly launched NS series of Pulsars sold 42,000 units in the same quarter.
Bajaj CT100 Electric Start has sold over 99,000 bikes in two months
In the commuter motorcycle segments, Bajaj sold over 2,81,000 units of the Platina and CT100 during the same period - a growth of 12 per cent over the same period a year ago, and 52 per cent growth over the first quarter of FY2018. The CT range of bikes sold over 1,76,000 units - a growth of 24 per cent over the same period a year ago. In fact, the new CT electric start, launched in August 2017, sold over 99,000 units in just two months. Bajaj Auto's market share in the domestic market for this segment improved to 32 per cent in the second quarter of FY2018. Overall share of domestic market improved to 17 per cent for Bajaj, and just for the month of September 2017, overall share in domestic market stood at 19.5 per cent.
