Lingering on the verge of being launched in the United States, the 2015 Hyundai Sonata has now acquired a new variant, the Sonata Eco. Hyundai recently revealed the first images and details about the latest addition to the midsize sedan's lineup; other than the features found on the Sonata SE, it also gets a chrome grille, side mirror-mounted turn signal indicators, automatic headlights, a 10-way power driver seat with lumbar support, stitching on the instrument cluster hood, chrome interior door handles, 5-inch color touchscreen audio, a rearview backup camera and Hyundai's Blue Link telematics system.

The Sonata Eco will be powered by Hyundai's 1.6-litre turbocharged Gamma four-cylinder engine that puts out about 175bhp and 264Nm of torque. It will come mated to a new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission- the first gearbox of its type in this segment. Hyundai claims that the Sonata Eco delivers a mileage of about 12Km/l on city roads, 16Km/l on the highway. It also stated that the car's combined mileage rating of about 14Km/l is more than a 10 per cent improvement over the 2015 Sonata SE's 2.4-litre Theta II engine.
