Highlights

Volkswagen India today revealed the Virtus sedan in India. The global premiere of the car marked the entry of the company's second product based on the MQB A0 IN platform. The Virtus sedan replaces the Vento but is much bigger in size. With the reveal, the company also has kick-started pre-bookings for the car. This strategy was used even with the Taigun, and it's an apt one, as the company can then keep up with the demand, especially, since there are 2 turbo petrol engines on offer, 3 different gearboxes, and also 6 colours to choose from.

The company also said, that the Virtus compact sedan will be launched in May this year and we look forward to driving it very soon. The Virtus will be manufactured at the company's plant in Chakan and come with localization content well above 93 per cent. The Volkswagen Virtus replaces the Vento in the company's stable and is substantially larger than the latter. It measures 4561 mm in length, and 1752 mm in width, while the wheelbase stands at 2651 mm. The boot capacity is an impressive 521 litres.
