Update: Fiat India has officially announced that it will launch the new Punto across 15 cities in 15 days, starting from Delhi on August 5, 2014. The hatchback will be launched in Mumbai on August 8, 2014.

Fiat, the Italian carmaker, is all set to launch the New 2014 Punto hatchback in India on August 8, 2014. Along with changes to the car's, the company has also re-branded the nomenclature of the hatchback; it will be sold as the 'Punto Evo' now. While the changes made to the car are mainly cosmetic, it remains unchanged mechanically.

The front fascia of the Punto facelift takes inspiration from the Avventura Concept showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. The hatchback, in its new avatar, gets new blacked out head-lamps and a rounded cornered rectangular shaped grille. Moreover, the car has sports a revised bumper that includes trapezoidal fog-lamps with chrome-line housing. The side profile of the updated model largely remains the same as the predecessor, though the new set of alloy wheels give it a sporty appeal. The Punto Evo will also be offered in new Golden body colour.

The cabin of the car resembles the updated Linea with similar dashboard and switches. The top-end variant will be offered with an all-black interior colour scheme, while other trims will get a two-tone black and beige shade.

There are no changes made under the hood, since it's just be a mid-life makeover of the car. It will continue to be offered with the existing engine options: 1.2-litre petrol, 1.4-litre petrol and 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine, all coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission.

The updated Fiat Punto is expected to be offered in four trim levels each, in petrol and diesel engines.
