Ford Recalls Over 40,000 Units of Figo and Figo Aspire

- 42,300 units of the Figo twins have been recalled
- Software concern related to the Restraints Control Module in both cars
- Software upgrade to be carried out free of cost at Ford dealerships
The software issue on the RCM can result in airbags not deploying in certain collisions. This may lead to loss of life. Therefore, Ford will be carrying out software upgrade on the RCM on all affected vehicles across the country, free of cost. The recall applies to Figo and Figo Aspire units manufactured since the launch of both the vehicles till April 12, 2016.
The vehicles manufactured after the above mentioned date are cleared for deliveries to customers and Ford has resumed the same.
Both the Ford Figo Aspire and the Figo hatchback were launched India last year.Ford has equipped both the cars with some best-in-class features and a design language that is a refreshing departure from their earlier ones. The cars were met with great response upon launch, so much so that the Figo Aspire replaced Honda Amaze as the second best-selling compact sedan in the month following its launch. Moreover, Ford set a new benchmark in the respective segments by offering 6 airbags, which was a definite first-in-class and was also one of the reasons why the cars had a successful run initially.
Currently, the company manufactures the Figo twins at its new facility in Sanand, Gujarat. Since its launch, Ford India has sold close to 2,500 to 3,000 units of the Figo and Figo Aspire per month and their cumulative sales till now has been over 42,000 units.
