Verdict

When it comes to price, the S-Cross makes a strong statement and that's where Maruti flexes its muscles. It undercuts all the compact SUVs right from the Renault Duster, Nissan Kicks, Hyundai Creta and even the Kia Seltos. Throw in Maruti's wide spread service network and you have a formula that has always produced a winner. The S-Cross petrol then ticks all the right boxes except the features box, because yes, we know it's capable of much more.

The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is a popular car model in India. It is available in both petrol and diesel variants. The S-Cross has a stylish design and is loaded with features. It comes with a 1.3-litre petrol engine that delivers good fuel economy.

How is the Design?

The design of the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is very modern and stylish. The car looks very sleek and sporty, and it has a lot of features that make it stand out from other cars in its class. The front of the car is very aggressive, and the back is very sleek and elegant. The car is available in a variety of colors, and it has a lot of different options an individual can choose.

How does it perform?

The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is a compact SUV that was launched in India in 2015. The S-Cross is based on the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross, which was launched in Japan in 2012. The S-Cross is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine or a 1.3-litre diesel engine and is available with both manual and automatic transmissions.
In terms of performance, the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is a capable SUV. The petrol engine is peppy and offers good performance, while the diesel engine is more suited for city driving. The S-Cross handles well and offers a comfortable ride, even on rough roads. The only downside to the S-Cross is its fuel economy, which is not as good as some of its rivals.

How’s the Mileage?

The mileage of the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is pretty good. I got around 12-15 km/l in the city and 17-18 km/l on the highway. The car is comfortable and has a good ground clearance which is great for Indian roads. The only downside is that the car does not have a sunroof.

How’s the Driving Experience?

The driving experience of Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is quite good. The car is comfortable and the engine is quite peppy. The suspension is on the softer side, which makes for a comfortable ride. However, the car does feel a bit underpowered when compared to some of its competitors.

How’s its Off-road Capability?

Off-road capability has always been one of the keys talking points whenever a new Maruti Suzuki car is launched in India. The S-Cross is no different and comes with some impressive off-road credentials.

The S-Cross is based on the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross, which was first introduced in 2013. The Suzuki SX4 S-Cross is a compact crossover SUV that was developed specifically for the European market. It's a relatively unknown model in India, but that hasn't stopped Maruti from launching it here.

The S-Cross is powered by a 1.6-litre diesel engine that produces 120PS of power and 320Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. There's also an optional six-speed automatic transmission.

The S-Cross has a ground clearance of 180mm and a water wading depth of 500mm. These are impressive figures for an SUV that's primarily designed for city driving. The S-Cross also comes with Suzuki's AllGrip four-wheel drive system. This system can be engaged manually or left in auto mode. In auto mode, the system will automatically engage the four-wheel drive when it detects slip

What’s the Interior like?

When it comes to the interior of Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, there are a lot of features that passengers will appreciate. The first thing that you’ll notice is the comfortable seating. The seats are contoured and have been designed to provide support for long journeys. There’s also plenty of legroom and headroom so that everyone can travel in comfort.

Another feature that passengers will love is the infotainment system. This system includes a touch screen display, Bluetooth connectivity, and USB ports. It’s easy to use and gives everyone the ability to stay connected and entertained while on the road.

There are also a number of storage options throughout the vehicle so that everyone can have access to their belongings. From the glove compartment to the door pockets, there’s plenty of space to store items like maps, sunglasses, and phones.

Tech and Infotainment

Maruti Suzuki S-Cross comes with a new 1.6L petrol engine. The car is based on the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross and shares its platform with the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The car was launched in India on 21 September 2016.

The S-Cross comes standard with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelt pretensioners and force limiters, and front and rear seat belts with load limiters. These safety features work together to protect you in the event of a collision.
In addition to the standard safety equipment, the S-Cross is also available with optional features like side airbags, a rear camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. These optional features give you even more peace of mind when driving.
The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is a safe and reliable SUV that is perfect for families. With its combination of standard and optional safety features, you can be sure that you and your loved ones will be protected on the road.

Which variant to buy?

When looking to buy the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, there are a few factors to consider before making your decision. The first is what engine size you are looking for. The S-Cross comes in 1.6- and 1.3-litre petrol and diesel engine options.

The second factor is what your budget is. The S-Cross starts at Rs. 8.39 lakh for the base model and goes up to Rs. 12.39 lakh for the top-end model.

Third, decide which features are most important to you and pick a variant accordingly. For example, if you're looking for a sunroof, you'll have to go for the higher variants. But if you can do without one, the lower variants will suffice.
Finally, take a test drive of each variant before making your final decision. This will give you a feel for which car best suits your needs and preferences.

Which Cars Compete in this Segment?

The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is a subcompact crossover SUV that was first introduced in 2015. It is based on the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross, which was discontinued in 2014. The S-Cross is currently the only vehicle in its segment in India.

Competitors of the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross include the Hyundai Creta, Mahindra Scorpio, Tata Hexa, and Jeep Compass.

Verdict (Value for Money?)

The new Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is a very impressive car. It has a stylish design, a comfortable interior, and great performance. The only drawback is its high price tag. But if you're looking for a premium SUV, the S-Cross is definitely worth considering.

What's New?

Maruti Suzuki has introduced the 2020 S-Cross petrol compact SUV in India with prices starting at Rs. 8.95 lakh for the Sigma manual variant, going up to Rs. 12.92 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi) for the range-topping Alpha automatic variant. The new Maruti Suzuki S-Cross gets updated with the BS6 compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine, replacing the 1.3-litre diesel motor that has now been discontinued and the model now gets a single-petrol engine option. The new Maruti Suzuki S-Cross petrol is offered in four variants - Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha - and is offered in both manual and automatic transmission options. The crossover competes against a number of offerings including the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the likes in the segment.

The biggest update on the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross comes to the powertrain. The compact SUV draws power from the 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that develops 103 bhp at 6000 rpm and 138 Nm of peak torque available at 4400 rpm. The engine meets the new BS6 emission norms and also powers the Ciaz, XL6, Ertiga, and the Vitara Brezza in the brand's line-up. The motor comes with the SHVS mild-hybrid technology that enhances power delivery and fuel efficiency. Transmission options include a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic unit. Maruti Suzuki claims an ARAI certified fuel efficiency figure of 18.55 kmpl on the manual, while the automatic returns 18.43 kmpl. The crossover is offered in a total of seven trims and five colour options.

Other features remain the same on the 2020 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross petrol including projector lens headlamps with LED daytime running lights, dual-tone alloy wheels, LED taillights and chrome highlights. The cabin is equipped with features like engine start-stop, SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth telephony, multi-function leather-wrapped steering wheel, auto-dimming and antiglare inside rearview mirror, height-adjustable driver's seat, automatic climate control, cruise control and more.

The safety tech list comprises several driver aid features on the new Maruti Suzuki S-Cross including reverse parking camera, rear parking sensors, rear park assist, gear shift indicator, dual front airbags, antilock brakes (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder, high-speed warning alert, and the ISOFIX anchor for the child seats. The safety features are standard across all variants of the S-Cross Petrol manual, while the automatic variants also get with Hill Hold Assist that makes driving convenient on hilly terrain. The model also complies with safety norms including frontal offset crash, side-impact and pedestrian safety.

The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is one of the oldest offerings in the compact SUV segment and was first introduced in 2015. It was the first model to be retailed via the premium Nexa dealerships and was updated with a comprehensive facelift in 2017. The company has sold over 1.25 lakh units of the model so far in India.
