BMW 7 Series ActiveHybrid to Be Launched on July 23, 2014

BMW India rolled out the new 7 Series last year, and is now planning to bring in the Hybrid version of the luxury saloon. To be launched on July 23rd, the 7 Series ActiveHybrid will be the first hybrid vehicle in India from the German luxury carmaker's stable.

    BMW India rolled out the new 7 Series last year, and is now planning to bring in the Hybrid version of the luxury saloon. To be launched on July 23rd, the 7 Series ActiveHybrid will be the first hybrid vehicle in India from the German luxury carmaker's stable.

    Powering the vehicle is a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder, in-line engine that churns out an impressive 320bhp, while yielding 450Nm of torque. The engine is equipped with an electric motor with the twin-turbocharged motor. The electric motor produces 55bhp and 210Nm of torque on its own. Power to the rear wheels of the car is transmitted via a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission.

    To be brought in via the CBU (completely built-up unit) route, expect the 7 Series ActiveHybrid to sport a rather hefty price tag, ranging anywhere between Rs 1.5 crore to Rs 1.8 crore. BMW is also planning to bring the i8 electric hybrid supercar and the 2014 MINI range to India this year.
