The S2 Del Mar combines the battery pack, electronics systems, and motor into one single component that also doubles up as the chassis for the motorcycle

The new LiveWire S2 Del Mar is based on the Arrow architecture and has been developed in-house at LiveWire Labs. The Arrow architecture combines the battery pack, electronics systems, and motor into one single component, which also serves as the chassis for the motorcycle. The new architecture will not only underpin the Del Mar but other future LiveWire models as well, the company has confirmed. The design language is distinctly Harley albeit in a futuristic way. The daybreaker LED headlamp remains onboard while the riding posture is upright but aggressive. LiveWire says the design is modular, which makes it easy to assemble. The model takes 44 per cent lesser build time when compared to the LiveWire One, the company said.

Power comes from the 21,700-format cells packed together. The model comes with both L1 and L2 charging but LiveWire has not confirmed the charging times on the motorcycle yet. In terms of power though, the electric motor develops about 79 bhp with 0-100 kmph coming up in 3.5 seconds. The range is said to be around 160 km on a single charge under city riding conditions. Owners get to choose from four riding modes along with custom modes while the electric motorcycle will get over-the-air software updates from time to time.

The LiveWire S2 Del Mar packs about 79 bhp from its electric motor with a range of 160 km on a single charge in city riding conditions

The Del Mar's electric motor uses a direct drive setup which is a simpler unit compared to the Revelation electric motor on the LiveWire One. The e-motorcycle tips the scales at about 190 kg, which is comparable to a Royal Enfield Himalayan. That said, the bike is about 25 per cent lighter than the LiveWire One. Deliveries for the new S2 Del Mar will begin by mid-2023 in the US. And if you didn't get a chance to reserve one, don't fret too much, LiveWire has confirmed that the S3 electric motorcycle is already in the works and is expected to arrive at a later date. The upcoming offering will be more affordable than the S2 Del Mar but will also pack a smaller motor and range as well.
