Aprilia has updated its famed middleweight motorcycles, the RS 660 and the Tuono 660, for the 2022 model year and the bikes have been unveiled at EICMA 2021. The 2022 Aprilia Tuono 660 now gets a new top-spec variant with more sophisticated hardware that promises to make the crackling of a performer even better. Meanwhile, the 2022 Aprilia RS 660 has received a limited edition version with a special livery to celebrate its victory in the 2021 MotoAmerica Twins Cup. The model receives a special paint scheme full of stars and stripes inspired by the American flag.

Only 1,500 units of the 2022 Aprilia RS 660 Limited Edition offering will be produced

Production of the special edition motorcycle will be restricted to 1,500 units with each model getting a special tank badge and serial number. Mechanically, the bike remains the same but gets a taller windscreen and sporty rear cowl as part of changes. Aprilia has also switched to a more track-oriented shift pattern on the motorcycle as compared to the standard version.

2022 Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory gets a shortened 16-tooth countershaft sprocket installed

The big upgrades though are on the 2022 Aprilia Tuono 660 with the new 'Factory' variant. The new Tuono 660 Factory gets a fully adjustable suspension with 41 mm KYB front forks and a Sachs rear monoshock. It also gets a lightweight lithium-ion battery with the kerb weight dropped to 181 kg, lighter by 2 kg. The European-spec motorcycle now packs more power at 99 bhp, which is the same as the RS 660. The middleweight naked previously developed 95 bhp and 67 Nm of peak torque.

Aprilia has also shortened the final drive on the 2022 Tuono 660 Factory with a 16-tooth countershaft sprocket installed. It also gets an IMU like the RS 660 that brings electronic aids like lean-sensitive traction control, cornering ABS, and a bi-directional quickshifter. Lastly, the Tuono 660 Factory gets a single seat with a removable cowl at the back for a sportier look. Aprilia launched the 660 twins in India earlier this year and you can expect the updated motorcycles to arrive in 2022 with the upgrades.
