Highlights

BMW India, the fully-owned subsidiary of the German automajor BMW, has now rolled out its locally assembled 3 Series Gran Turismo in India. The vehicle was earlier showcased at the Indian Auto Expo in February. Priced at Rs 42.75 lakh (ex-showroom), the car has been assembled locally at the company's Mahindra World City based plant in Singaperumal Koil, near Chennai.

With the new 3 Series GT, BMW aims to offer an outstanding combination of top-notch performance and ample cabin space. The new 3 Series Gran Turismo shares a great resemblance to the 5 Series GT, but different interior and styling give it a unique character. The 3-Series GT has a coupe-style roofline, flowing rear-end with large load aperture and frameless side windows. In addition, the car also has rear spoiler that automatically deploys when the car runs at 110kmph and retracts at speeds below 70kmph.

What will appeal enthusiasts is its 2.0-litre, BMW Twinpower, turbo four-cylinder diesel unit, which mated to a ZF soured 8-speed automatic gearbox, churns out a maximum power output of 184bhp and 380Nm of peak torque. This engine helps the car accelerate to 100kmph in 7.9 seconds, with a top-speed of 226kmph.
