Updated Toyota Innova Touring Sport Launched With 6-Speed Manual Gearbox

The special edition Toyota Innova Crysta Touring Sport model has received some key updates in India and one of them is a 6-speed manual transmission. The new 6-speed gearbox will be offered only with the diesel version only, replacing the older 5-speed unit and is priced at Rs. 19.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The special edition Toyota Innova Touring Sport model has received some key updates in India and one of them is a 6-speed manual transmission. The new 6-speed gearbox will be offered only with the diesel version, replacing the older 5-speed unit and is priced at Rs. 19.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The petrol version will continue to sport the 5-speed manual transmission, while the 6-speed automatic transmission is offered with both models as an option. The updated Innova Touring Sport edition will start reaching dealerships this month, but there is no official announcement from the company yet. But, one of the Toyota dealers we spoke to has confirmed the update and the Innova Touring Sport edition's official website has also been updated with the new features.

The new 6-speed manual gearbox comes with the company's intelligent manual transmission (iMT) technology and is paired with the powerful 2.4-litre GD series engine. The turbocharged 2,393 cc in-line 4-cylinder oil burner churns out about 148 bhp at 3400 rpm and develops 343 Nm of peak torque at 1400 - 2800 rpm. Toyota also offers a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission with the diesel model as an option.

Visually, the Toyota Innova Touring Sport model remains unchanged. Up front, the MPV comes with a black grille with a smoked chrome finish and high gloss lower grill with boomerang shaped ornament. The grille is flanked by sharp smoked automatic LED Projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, LED foglamps, body coloured front and rear bumper with black cladding and chrome highlights. Other exterior features like the black wheel arch cladding and instead of the older 16-inch alloys, now the car comes with 17-inch matte black alloy wheels along with chrome door handles, rear spoiler with integrated LED lights and rear defogger.

While cabin design hasn't changed, Toyota has added few additional features along with the new update. For instance, the touchscreen infotainment system now comes with navigation function and the company has also added idle start/stop function. The overall cabin design remains unchanged with black interiors and contrast red stitching for the leather package. Wooden inserts for the dashboard and inner door panels. Other features include a 7-seater layout with 50:50 split seats for the 3rd row, smart key with push-button start-stop function and steering mounted controls for audio, telephone, voice recognition, and multi-information display among others.

On the safety front, the diesel manual variant of the Innova Touring Sport model also gets hill-start assist as an addition along with existing features like 3 airbags, ABS with ABS and brake assist, vehicle stability control, back monitor and sonar function. The automatic version gets 7 airbags.
