Jeep is having a yearlong party on the occasion of its 75th anniversary. After unveiling limited edition models for almost all of its SUVs, the iconic American carmaker has commissioned a one of a kind Wrangler Concept model. Naming it as the Wrangler 75th Salute Concept, the vehicle is based on a Wrangler Sport and was manufactured at Jeep's Toledo, Ohio facility that has manufactured the Wrangler for many years now.

Jeep says that this particular model turns the clock back in time and revisits the 'function over form' concept of the original Willys MB and hence, it does justice as a modern interpretation of the iconic Willys of the 1940s. There are no B or C pillars. The two-door concept is draped in a dull Olive colour scheme that was the colour in which the original Willys were manufactured.

"We are creating this unique Jeep Wrangler 75th Salute concept vehicle in celebration of the brand's legendary history, and to demonstrate that 75 years later, today's iconic Jeep Wrangler is instantly recognizable and clearly connected to the original Willys MB," said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand - FCA Global. "Since they were first produced in 1941, Jeep vehicles have been the authentic benchmark for off-road capability, having mastered more terrain, led more adventures and provided drivers more freedom than any other vehicle before or since."

Some of the features include 16-inch steel wheels shrouded in massive 32-inch non-directional tyres, latches for hood, a spare tyre mounted at the rear tailgate, solid steel numbers for front and rear bumpers, canvas seats. Typically old school. There are a few commemorative badged strewn around on the SUV. The power comes from a 3.6-litre PentaStart V6 engine which is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

Jeep has already set foot in India with an official presence and will soon start selling the Grand Cherokee, Wrangler and the Hopefully the Renegade as well.
